Is Neurofeedback Effective? Let me show you what we are seeing!

Hi everyone and welcome back!  In today’s post I want to highlight some of things from this year (2024) regarding our results using Neurofeedback in the treatment of mental health.  Although we can never truly predict it will work, statistically the odds are in your favor!  Let me show you…

What is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback operates by measuring brain waves using electroencephalography (EEG) and providing immediate feedback through visual or auditory cues. The intention is to help individuals learn how to modify their brainwave patterns to achieve more desirable mental states, such as increased focus or reduced anxiety. In essence, when we use Neurofeedback as part of our treatment, we are ensuring that your brain is function at its best capacity, thus enhancing your ability to learn new skills and optimize your overall functioning in life.

How is it used in Mental Health?

We see a lot of various mental health issues ranging from Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, PTSD, OCD and more. One of the major benefits of using Neurofeedback is everyone’s treatment is personalized – specific for their brain wave patterns and functionality.

I have seen A LOT of successful treatment outcomes over the past 15 years while using Neurofeedback.  Here are some highlights from this year!

1.  Stroke victim – Client had a stroke a few years ago and was left with migraine headaches (daily), lack of motivation, no longer doing things they would normally do, had seen a Neurologist for years with no success and medications would not help.  We used Neurofeedback protocols and within 16-20 sessions they were symptom free!  No migraines, motivation and her life was now back in her control!

2. Multiple Sclerosis –  We were not sure what we could do for this patient who has had MS for 30 years.  They reported daily pain, headaches, sleeping 18 hours per day, lack of energy and a massive lack of emotional regulation (ver irritable). After 20 sessions they reported no more headaches, massive increase energy levels (only needed 8 hours of sleep) and a greater sense of emotional control.  They were now able to spend time with children, walk around with little to no pain! In their words, “I have my life back!”

3. OCD – We have treated multiple people that have a lot of OCD traits or an actual diagnosis.  Many of them, as is part of mental health, also experience a lot of anxiety.  For those ones who were focused on OCD and Anxiety treatment, they received a tremendous amount of relief.  Of those treated for OCD, they saw no less than a 75% decrease in symptoms, with some reporting as high as 100% relief.  That is massive! These symptoms have not returned and now that the OCD/Anxiety symptoms are in control, they have expressed a “freedom” to live life, learn new skills, and experience life in the moment without fear.

4.  Migraine Headaches – Migraine headaches are some of best results we see.  For example, one client reported having migraines at least 4-6 times per month.  She had these migraines for the past 15 years.  The client had tried medications, massage, chiropractors, and nothing seemed to work.  Out of desperation, she found us and wanted to give Neurofeedback try.  She is now migraine free (since February 2024) and reports living life free of migraine headaches!

5.  Addiction – People often refer to addiction as a “brain disease.” In some ways, this is correct.  When we treat addiction (alcohol, substances, pornography, etc.) with Neurofeedback, it helps the client to change and train the new brainwave activity in their brain – resulting in escaping the tentacles of addiction. One particular client, who had suffered with alcohol for over 40 years, and had attended rehab many times and daily AA meetings, is now free from the cravings and the roller coaster ride of alcohol addiction. She feels “free” from the daily fight of cravings and the up and down roller coaster of addiction.  Her memory has improved, her concentration is focused, and she is able to live life as she wants.

6. Anxiety / Depression – Nearly 2 out of 4 people in our world suffer from either Anxiety or Depression in some way.  There could be a lot of reasons for this, yet the results is the same – trouble managing emotion and being able to fully function in life.  People who are using Neurofeedback as part of their treatment plan (which could include CBT, EMDR, etc.) are making strides that would normally take much longer. When the brain is optimized to function (as a body organ should), the brain is able to manage emotion, whether its anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, feeling down or struggling with energy.  Over 85% of people who are utilizing Neurofeedback are reporting massive improvement with emotional control.

In the End

I could go on and on about the many stories we see with the results of Neurofeedback.

At Therapeuo Health, we aim to find solutions to conquer the pain of mental health. For some, we have to find solutions at the neurological level (the brain and Central Nervous System). This is where Neurofeedback and its technology can come into play to help find solutions.  Neurofeedback is simple, personal, and something most people would benefit from.  In my opinion, life is better when we have the ability of our brain functioning at its full potential.

If you, or a loved one, have questions, please give us a call and see if Neurofeedback might be a solution for the problem you are experiencing!

Until next time,
